Assistive alerting devices are types of equipment that alert people with hearing loss to commonly missed sounds. Also known as assistive alerting devices, they can alert you via a flashing light or vibration or loud sound or all three alerts. Most alerting devices are wireless that is they send a wireless signal from a transmitter to a receiver. Assistive alerting devices can be used to alert you to the telephone ringing, or baby crying, or doorbell ringing.
Assistive alerting devices can monitor sounds and activity in a home. Some examples of alerting devices are a vibrating wrist watch that monitors all home functions including a smoke alarm. The most common example of an alerting device is a vibrating alarm clock that shakes the bed when the alarm goes off.
